Why Obsidian Leaders?

debbie642

Obsidian Leaders was designed for high performing c-level executives who have the potential to take the next step into business leadership roles. It is not a remedial program but is designed to help leaders reach their full potential while addressing some of the most critical requirements of leaders today. When we present the program to CEOs there is typically a sense of relief and delight.

We often hear “Wow, this really hits the mark! Several of my team could really use this right now!” Many CEOs are signing up several of their key people across different cohorts. These are all high performing functional leaders but many right now are overwhelmed…

There is no doubt that leadership today is more challenging than ever before.. more is expected of them – pressure to do more with less resources in a rapidly changing environment. Is it any wonder so many executives are battling stress and burnout?

  • Digitalisation and the hyper-connected world we live in mean they are reachable – and expected to be reachable 24-7. There is little downtime, time to recharge and refocus. This often comes at the expense of personal relationships and health and wellbeing (mental and physical)

  • Pressure to take personal responsibility for the wellbeing of employees has amplified in recent years. Stress and burnout are being felt at all levels and leaders are expected to put employee wellbeing first, while still ensuring performance is upheld and outcomes delivered. Increased focus on social contexts in the workplace means Leaders are needing significant upskilling to ensure they are abreast of requirements, both legal and ethical.

  • Lack of support from below – many leaders are spending significant time putting out fires and prioritising tactical ‘busy’ work over strategy and leadership due to a gap in talent in the levels below them and inability to delegate appropriately – more upskilling of middle managers is also required to take some of the load away from the top

  • Change is the only constant. The world is changing at an increasingly rapid place and social, political and economic drivers are all impacting the way we do business and the need to evolve rapidly and constantly to keep abreast of needs of the customer and availability of resources.

Obsidian Leaders gives Members a safe space to explore the impact of stress and additional pressures on their leadership journey and share experiences, learnings and tools to address the challenges they are facing and ensure they are prioritising their personal development for the benefit of themselves and their organisations.
